The project’s first exploration well is at the port of Aarhus

In November 2023, we drilled the first exploration well in the Southern part of Aarhus (Sumatravej), after which we established two additional test wells in the northern part of Aarhus (Skejby).

The exploration phase has shown that, from a geological perspective, the northern part of Aarhus is most suitable for geothermal energy. This knowledge has been generated through thorough analyses of all three test wells, including extended analyses of the subsurface beneath Sumatravej.

Consequently, Kredsløb and Innargi have decided to locate the geothermal plants in the northern part of Aarhus. This means that we will not be returning to the Port of Aarhus to drill more wells and build a geothermal plant. Instead, we will complete and close the existing test well.
